5 Things: Kate Middleton bringing AI back into the chat

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I have been speaking publicly about AI. If you would have told me 3 years ago that I would have been talking to groups and leading trainings on how to understand and slowly start to integrate this new technology in a few short years, I would have assumed that A. amazon had officially eaten up all of the little guys and retail was dead or B. I took a bad mushroom and officially mentally beamed up into space. (possibly a combo of A leading to B). But actually the opposite is true! Understanding how this technology works opened up my eyes to how much it is actually geared towards the creatives in the world. We are in the “if you dream it you can do it” phase of tech. And for me that has tried SO many tech solutions to make my business run more efficiently without more of my time sucked into it- that is music to my ears. Last year, I would post demo’s on instagram of the tools I got excited about but then I realized that the pool of people who were actually interested was slim and my doom and gloom post’s about how this tech can be scary always reigned supreme. It’s so hard to tell a full picture when you are posting to an algorithm- yes, I think this tech is scary and yes, I think it’s wonderful1. So the lack of being able to show a full picture made me kind of squash those even though my nerd heart loves doing them very much! I still use AI every day and love having conversations when someone asks about it but I haven’t brought it back around because, well, most people find it boring. (and that’s ok!!!)

But then in the plot twist of all plot twists, none other than the Duchess of Sussex herself, Kate Middleton, brought AI back in to the mainstream spotlight. My tiktok was filled with Where is Kate debates and people investigating the photo Kensington Palace released and explaining why it was AI. And then the lame, odd PR flop of a twitter response saying she edited it??? It’s my tech world and social media marketing world combining and I. Am. Here. For. It.

The photo that started it all

Sooooo let’s talk about Ai today in 5 things shall we???

  1. I match this energy and mindset completely. If you don’t believe me on the importance of AI adoption, listen to the shark himself.
  2. One of the parts that keeps the current AI emergence from being boring is the DRAMA of it all. And there is so much. But just to touch on what happened this week in “As the AI World Turns”: Elon Musk sued OpenAI (chatgpt) and OpenAI responded WITH RECEIPTS. I need Andy Cohen to get these people on a couch stat.
  3. If you would like to know where to start with keeping a pulse on tech news, my go to is always Morning Brew. They are the unicorn mix of entertaining AND informational and help me break down complex topics and feel like V in the know (my fave feeling.) Great one on why bitcoin jumped. Here’s one breaking down the Elon Vs OpenAi I mentioned above. Here’s one I found fascinating about Apple feeling the pressure to push the gas even further on AI. All this to say- this is the fastest route to keeping up with biz news with the most minimal effort (smarter not harder, people)
  4. Speaking of Kate Middleton- here’s a 14 part breakdown on insta because I know most of you are IG first users, but if you are TT fan, there are a tonnnnn of arm chari experts posting about it if you just search “where is kate.” There are 2 takeaways here. One, obviously, where is Kate and if you aren’t familiar with what is unfolding start here. But two, maybe if more Insta creators start making multi part content, Meta will make the platform more suitable for this type of content because it is my favoriteeee part of Tiktok (rabbit holes foreverrr).
  5. I have officially shifted my recommendation to first time users of AI to start with Claude. I have always prefered its tone of voice over ChatGPT’s and it just got a major upgrade and it performing even better. I find the interface much easier to navigate that GPT as well. If you are a newb, or just a casual user- give it a go!

And that’s all for the midweek roundup! Have a fantastic rest of the week pals!

  1. Just like all the tech that came before- good and not so good will come from this. I always like the perspective of inanimate things cannot be evil. Money cannot be evil. Social Media cannot be evil. The internet cannot be evil. It’s all in how you use it. Humans give it consciousness. So the more people using it for good helps tips those scales.
