Rebecca shares her tale of climbing out of rock bottom via comedy. 3 Like so many creatives I interview, Rebecca's path was far from linear. At first she tried the “college-law school-lawyer” adulthood in a box model. Unfortunately, she found herself deeply unhappy and masking that unhappiness with a strong addiction to alcohol. She pulled herself out of that dark night of the soul with comedy via a myriad of forms. As she tells us in the interview, the path to finding work that makes her feel alive and inspired and that journey was far from easy. One of my favorite truth bombs she drops is the humbling realization of “your talent not matching your taste.” If you are a creative and started anything for the first time, you can relate to just how sobering that is. But Rebecca's story is a reminder that what's worth it takes time and is worth fighting for. Yes darkness can beget darkness, but also joy can beget joy. Self acceptance begets self acceptance and if that isn’t something we all need more of, I don't know what is.

I hope you enjoy this interview with Rebecca and leave more inspired to listen to that tiny voice in your head that is asking you to try something new. It doesn't have to be radical, you don't have to change your whole life. But giving yourself that opportunity to try new things will beget that courage and confidence that you can pivot and you can find a lot of joy in exploring the not so practical daydreams in life.

Rebecca's first public facing solo project, Dial Mom for Murder, is launching so soon! I have had the privilege of seeing sneak peaks of footage and I can’t wait for more. The plot line follows housewife turned podcaster, Delaney, on her journey to attempting to infiltrate the cool moms club of her neighborhood by solving the murder of one of their own, Teensy Peterson. Delaney enlists the help of Bev, who's blind faith in her abilities paired with a commanding personality really try to shape Delaney's pod into shape. Stay tuned to Dial Mom for Murder's Instagram for release details and sneak previews!
