Ep. 5 Hailey Lowe Fennell has a message for you

There are few phrases that spark joy as quickly these days as “you have a new subscriber on Substack” so if you enjoy this I would LOVE to have the opportunity to send you more!

I have a few tells that quickly giveaway that I am a born and bred Louisiana Girl. I carry mini Tony Chachere’s packets on my person at all times. We import crawfish every year from cajun country. I will drive the 20 minutes to the nearest snoball stand in a pilgrimage of sorts in the oppressive heat days of July and August. 5 years in, I still am coming to terms that the holidays end at New Years in CHS and everyone goes into their caves for a few weeks instead of the party continuing into Mardi Gras. But I think the biggest differentiator is things that feel fringe to people in other parts of the country, don’t really make me bat an eye.

My favorite show growing up was Unsolved Mysteries and if any of you Robert Stack stans are reading this, you’ll know Louisiana was a regular setting for the unusual and unexplained. Louisiana truly embodies the sentimentality “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” Since living away from La for the first time in life, I find myself always seeking places that feel like “home” (but without the questionable roads, infrastructure, chaotic political system, challenging public school systems, but lets keep it light, ya know?) No one would label Baton Rouge, where I grew up, the hub of culture in Louisiana but it does keep you a stones toss away. A quick drive over to New Orleans brings you into a whole new ecosystem. One filled with the most gorgeous and eerie cemeteries, voo-doo shops, fortune tellers, Marie Laveau’s home, to just skim the surface. Head the opposite direction towards St Francisville, you will find one of the most “haunted” places in the country, The Myrtles plantation.1 . I think growing up in Louisiana does to the mystical what growing up French does to wine. It takes away the stigma by normalizing it at an early age so that it’s not this carrot to chase and take too far. I have always been apt to try out a tarot card read, psychic medium session, or energy healer. Growing up around these things makes it something I can enjoy, but not shape my life around or give too much power to. Its fun, it’s enjoyable, it’s light.

Which brings me to today’s guest. When my sweet friend Jen connected me to her bestie, Hailey, who was looking for someone to practice her psychic mediumship skills on, it was an easy yes for me. Jen’s one of those people that I fully trust in an “any friend of Jen’s is a friend of mine” sort of way. Love those kinds of people. So I had my first virtual session with Hailey and it was such a delight. She has this effortless energy to her that you just know her ego isn’t involved in the situation and she is truly dialed in for you to receive the note of encouragement and validation your team on the other side is so eager to deliver. Since then I’ve gotten to know Hailey even better. Watching her put her skills out there more publicly has been so inspiring. If she can destigmitize and educate people on something as misunderstood as spiritual communication, I can put myself out there about the nerdy tech tools and mindset work I do as a creative entrepreneur! Hailey even has become a client- working on easier ways to book, brainstorming a tangible product that embodies her work, how to spread her gifts in a bigger way without burning out. I was so grateful she was so forthcoming on her path to becoming a working psychic medium on todays chat. As you know by now, I am fascinated with the road less traveled career path and there isn’t a better mapless route than from advertising to medium as a mother in the south.

I hope you enjoys todays episode as much as I did!

How to connect with Hailey:

I would say tell her Victoria sent you, but I have a feeling she would already know ;)

  1. Where I have had my own unexplained experience. After completing a tour of the property on a date with Michael in college (yes, I’ve always been like this folks) my earring came out of my ear flew across the room. It was bizarre but what was more bizarre was the lack of reaction from the docent who simply just walked over and picked it up and handed it back to me as if an earring detaching itself and propelling through air was a completely normal occurrence.
